Garrett Jones, you’re something special. Sure, you may not be the home run hero you looked like last season, but you’re a legitimate offensive threat on a team short of legitimate anythings. Jones went 4-4 with 2 home runs and came a triple short of the cycle in the Pirates 6-2 victory against the Rockies. The victory was all the stranger because it was the first time the Pirates won back to back games on the road since June 19 and 20th and Ross Ohlendorf had to leave the game after four batters because a ball struck him in the head.
Fortunately for all involved, Ohlendorf seems to be okay, though I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a bit shell shocked in his next outing.
Aaron Cook pitched poorly for his second straight start as his ERA rose to 5.07 in the loss.
