Brian Bannister’s ERA over his last three starts. While I’m sure he’ll take some solace in that his .345 BABIP is unsustainably high over that time, it’s not much better than the 5.56 ERA he had in 18 starts before hand. For all of Brian Bannister’s applied sabermetrics, it unfortunately cannot make up the difference for someone who’s stuff is just at the Major League fringe.
The Twins beat Bannister and the Royals 6-4, battering Bannister for 2 home runs, courtesy of Delmon Young and Jason Repkio, and 11 hits in the 6 innings Bannister made it through. At the very least, when Bannister takes the mound, he’ll give you innings. That’s something.
