Ty Wigginton: Professional Bookend. Wigginton opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first and ended the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the top of the eleventh. In between, the Orioles gave up 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth and had to find a way to slowly battle back from then on.
It’s possible that Wigginton will be gone from Baltimore come Saturday, but with Tejada shipped out to San Diego, it’s possible the Orioles will need to keep him just so a warm body can man an infield position. It’s not the noblest of reasons to keep a player, but it’s a reason to keep one nonetheless.
Surprising fact: The Orioles are 26-9 in Kansas City since 2001. That should put into perspective the quality of O’s clubs in the last decade compared to those in KC.
