Roy Oswalt, meant to represent hope, glory and a little solace for having sent Cliff Lee away, made his Phillies debut in a less than memorable way. Oswalt went six innings, giving up five runs on seven hits and two walks. Most of the damage off of Oswalt came courtesy of future Hall of Famers Adam Kennedy with 4 hits. Josh Willingham and Roger Bernadina each contributed 2 RBI. Oswalt’s winless streak was extended to 3 starts, having not won since July 8th against the Pirates.
Craig Stammen made the most of the extra Oswaltian attention while surrendering a single run in 6 1/3 innings. The Nationals took the game 8-1.
