Things You May Have Missed While You Were Living Your Life
Next weekend is Labor Day which marks the end of summer. I hope you’re making the most of these last precious drops. Unless you’re in Los Angeles like me where our days of sweltering heat is just beginning. Anyway, here is what you may have missed:
- Justin Verlander won his 20th game. It was the earliest a pitcher has picked up their 20th since Curt Schilling in 2002. Now Verlander just needs to start a blog and a video game company.
- Ozzie Guillen, correctly mind you, criticizes Indians fans for their fickle behavior regarding Jim Thome.
- Vin Scully is coming back for season 63. That sound you hear is that of joy bursting in every young lad and lasses’ heart.
- America beat Japan in the Little League World Series. Hopefully the 3D cameras got some good shots of the children crying.
- On his 41st birthday, Jim Thome hit his first home run since rejoining the Indians. It was a moment 8 1/2 years, 3,555 at-bats, and 268 home runs in the making.
